New York, N.Y. - Hunter College men's soccer got their second-straight win on Saturday, defeating the City College of New York with a score of 3-1.
The Hawks improve to 2-7-1, while CCNY drops to 0-7 this season.
Despite Hunter's six shot attempts, the first half would end in a stalemate as neither team found a goal. The Beavers posted one shot in the first 45 minutes of the game.
Esteban Correa and
Harrison Krepack each came out in the second half with immediate shot attempts, but it wasn't until the 58th minute that Hunter found the net as
Arman Zamanzadeh coverted off a free kick to get Hunter on the board.
Just three minutes later
Jesus Patino Muniz gave the ball to
Michael Merlo on the run, who then found the back of the net to give the Hawks a 2-0 advantage.
At the 84:21 minute mark
Harrison Krepack gave Hunter a 3-0 lead by recording his first goal of the season. Muniz was once again credited with the assist.
CCNY tallied a goal in the last five minutes of the game, but it was too late for the Beavers to catch up as Hunter took the game, 3-1. Hunter goalkeeper
Paul Alain Yovoh Tenfoung notched two saves in the victory.
The team returns to the field on October 4 when they host conference opponent the College of Staten Island.
