New York, N.Y. - Hunter College women's basketball got its fifth CUNYAC win on Thursday night after defeating Lehman College with a score of 81-64.
The Hawks improved to 12-3 and 5-1 this season, while the Lightning dropped to 8-8 and 4-3 in the conference.
Hunter shot 47.3 percent from the field in the victory, holding the Lightning to a field goal percentage of 30.3 percent. The Hawks also out-rebounded Lehman 52-47 and forced 21 turnovers off 16 steals. The Purple and Gold added 40 bench points to Lehman's 14.
Hunter only led by ten points at halftime, but got into a rhythm in the second half to lead by as much as 23 points in the third quarter. They held onto the advantage through the fourth to get the 81-64 victory.
Marlena Budna led the Hawks with her first career double-double, scoring 20 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. She went 10-13 from the floor and added four blocks in the Hunter win.
Ashley Arias totaled 13 points and 11 rebounds for her own double-double, while
Janine Conway registered 12 points and
Jade Aponte chipped in ten.
The Hawks will look to improve their conference record on Saturday when they take on first-place College of Staten Island at 1 p.m.
