Women's Basketball Falls to Bulldogs, Despite 21 Points From Conway

Hawks Fall to Brooklyn, 69-55

Brooklyn, N.Y. - Hunter College women's basketball fell to Brooklyn College on Friday night with a score of 69-55 to drop to 6-3 in the conference.

The Hawks are now 13-5 overall this season, while the Bulldogs improved to 16-2 and 8-1. Brooklyn's solo CUNYAC loss was to the Purple and Gold back in December.

Hunter shot just 32.1 percent from the field and committed 20 turnovers to Brooklyn's 12 in the loss.

Trailing by 12 points at halftime, the Hawks began to make their comeback in the third quarter, going on a 13-5 run. A three-pointer from Ashley Yu helped the Hawks make the score 46-45 going into the fourth.

Maya Thompson started the fourth quarter with a basket from behind the arc to give Hunter a two-point lead. The Bulldogs quickly took it back but the Hawks kept the score close until the last two minutes of the game. Brooklyn secured the win by outscoring Hunter 11-2 in the remaining time to win the game, 69-55.

Janine Conway led the Hawks with 21 points, hitting eight field goals in the game.

The Purple and Gold return to action on January 22 when they travel to John Jay College.
