New York, N.Y. - Hunter College women's basketball had six players score in double-digits on Tuesday night to defeat York College, 98-48 at the Hunter Sportsplex.
The Purple and Gold improved to 11-3 this season and 4-1 in CUNYAC play, while York dropped to 3-9 and 1-4.
The Hawks held the Cardinals to a 23.5 field goal percentage for the second-best defensive mark of the season for Hunter. The Purple and Gold shot 47.1 from the field to get the victory.
Hunter immediately went to work at the start of the game, finding points from eight different players in the first quarter to lead 29-3 in the first ten minutes. The Cardinals opened up the second quarter with five quick points, but Hunter regained composure to outscore York 11-2 over the next three minutes. Leading by 43 points,

Simone Kheradu finished off the half with a combined six points to give Hunter a 64-20 lead at halftime.
Both teams struggled to score in the third quarter with
Jade Aponte finally breaking Hunter's drought by hitting a shot with six minutes left. The Hawks continued their dominance well into the fourth quarter, leading by as much as 61 points at one point. The Purple and Gold eventually finished off the game with a 98-48 win.
Aponte led the team for the fourth time in five games with 15 points.
Janine Conway continued her consistence with 14 points, while
Ashley Yu followed with 12 points, shooting 2-3 from behind the arc. Ashely Arias added 11 points and
Phoebe Valenton chipped in ten for the Hawks.
Maya Thompson rounded out the double figure scoring by recording her second double-double of the season, tallying 10 points and 11 rebounds in the win.
The Hawks return to action on Thursday, Jan. 11 when they host Lehman College at 5 p.m. at the Sportsplex.
