Riverdale, N.Y. - Hunter College women's volleyball took down the College of Mount Saint Vincent in three sets on Wednesday evening, featuring scores of 25-21, 25-13 and 26-24.
With the victory the Hawks improved to 16-5 this season, while the Dolphins are now 7-14.
The Purple and Gold got off to a strong start, posting four kills and one service ace in the first five points of the match. Hunter led for the entire set, but the Dolphins did not go away quietly, trailing by just one with the score 22-21. From there the Hawks took advantage of three CMSV errors to take the first set.
Hunter shot out to another early lead in the second, finding a 10-3 advantage over the Dolphins. The Hawks recorded eight of the last 10 points of the set to win, finding points from

Marlena Budna and
Kayshawna Richardson for a team effort.
The Dolphins took their first lead of the match in the beginning of the third set before the Hawks went on a 7-0 run to pull ahead 13-9. CMSVÂ tied the score at 24 before the Purple and Gold closed it out, getting a kill from
Mariam Ouattara to secure the three-set victory.
Wasson led the team with nine kills, while Budna followed with eight and Lawrence added six in the victory.
Justine Smith and
Miranda Hogan split time leading the Hunter offense, recording 17 and 13 assists, respectively.
Haley Trunkett registered a match-high 17 digs to lead the defense.
The team returns to action this weekend when they travel to Massachusetts Institute of Technology where they will face Utica, King's College and MIT on Friday and Saturday.
