New York, N.Y. - Hunter College men's soccer got a win over the City College of New York on Saturday, taking the Beavers down with a score of 2-1 at Randall's Island.
With the victory the Hawks improved to 3-2-2 in the CUNYACÂ and moved into third place in the standings.
Michael Merlo got the Hawks on the board by converting on a penalty kick to give the Purple and Gold a 1-0 lead at the 28:21 minute mark.
Hunter struck again in the second half as
Blaise Enama posted a goal with 30 minutes to play, allowing the Hawks to take a 2-0 advantage. Jesus Patino Muniz was credited with the assist.
The Hawks gave up a goal in the final minute of regulation, but the effort was not enough for the Beavers as the Hawks took the game, 2-1.
Enama led the squad with three shots on goal, followed by Muniz who recorded two. Goalkeeper Noah Doughtery tallied three saves in the win.
The team returns to action on October 17 when they host John Jay College at 3 p.m.
