New York, N.Y. - Hunter College women's volleyball went 1-1 at their last regular-season tri-match of 2018, dropping at three-set match to #2 ranked Johnson & Wales University before sweeping Kean University at the Hunter Sportsplex. The Hawks spent the day celebrating their five seniors, including
Kayshawna Richardson,
Marlena Budna,
Miranda Hogan,
Taylor Haiduk and
Haley Trunkett.
The team finishes the regular season with a 22-8 record.
JWU 3, Hunter 0
The Hawks dropped a match to the #2 ranked team in the country in three sets with scores of 25-18, 25-18 and 25-14.
Taylor Haiduk and
Kylie Hurst led the team with seven kills each, while
Miranda Hogan added 21 assists.
Haley Trunkett earned a team-high 16 digs in the loss to the Wildcats.
Hunter 3, Kean 0
The Purple and Gold defeated the Cougars for the first time since 2015 in their second match of the day, taking down Kean with scores of 25-17, 25-15 and 25-16.
The Hawks hit well, recording an outstanding hitting percentage of .341, while holding Kean to mark of .019. Haiduk and Budna paced the offense by recording 12 and 11 kills, respectively. Haiduk chipped in a team-high 12 digs to also lead the Hunter defense.
Hogan added 25 assists, while Trunkett posted 11 digs in the victory.
The team returns to action on Friday, Nov. 2 when they look to capture their fifth-straight CUNYACÂ championship.
