Brooklyn, N.Y. - Hunter College women's basketball got its second win of the 2018-19 season on Friday night when they defeated Medgar Evers College with a score of 99-42 in the first CUNYAC contest of the year.
The Hawks are now 2-4 this season and start conference play with a 1-0 record.
Five players scored in double-figures as
Jade Aponte led the way with 21 points in the victory. Hunter jumped out to an 11-point lead in the first three minutes of the game as Aponte hit three shots from behind the arc to give the Hawks a 34-10 advantage to finish the first quarter. The Purple and Gold maintained a 27-point lead going into halftime.
The Hawks lengthened the lead in the third, going up by as much as 44 points, before finishing off the Cougars in the fourth with a score of 99-42.
Aponte hit five three-pointers in the win for a team-high 21 points, while
Janine Conway continued to be a consistent scorer for the Hawks with 17.
Phoebe Valenton recorded 15 and
Edina Music added 13 for a season-high mark.
Marlena Budna made her season debut by scoring 11 points in ten minutes of play, while
Selina Lim added eight points and eight assists in the win.
The Hawks return to action on Tuesday, December 4 when they host York College at 5 p.m.
