Williamsport, PA. - Hunter College women's basketball returned to the court on Saturday, falling to Rosemont College with a score of 69-59 at the Hoops for Hounds Tournament, hosted by Lycoming College.
The Hawks are now 4-6 overall this season, while the Ravens improved to 7-3.
Rosemont jumped out to a 10-point lead in the first quarter with a score of 20-10.
Theresa Leung and
Jade Aponte scored for the Hawks in the final minute of the quarter to close the gap to six points going into the second. Hunter came out with back-to-back three pointers from Leung and
Selina Lim to tie up the score.
The Purple and Gold went on a 12-2 run as
Edina Music hit a layup to put the Hawks up by seven points with 3:22 left in the half. The Ravens finished off the quarter by taking back the lead with a score of 35-34 at halftime.
After trailing for most of the third quarter, Leung hit a shot from behind the arc to spark a Hunter run, helping the Hawks tie the score at 42 and then finish up the quarter with a two-point edge.
The Hawks fell behind early in the fourth quarter until another three from Lim tied the score. The Ravens responded with a basket to take a two-point lead with 7:14 to play and they never gave it up, holding onto the lead for the rest of the game to get a 69-59 victory.
Leung led the squad with 14 points, while Lim followed with 11, shooting 3-3 from the three-point line.
The team returns to action tomorrow when they face Lycoming at 12 p.m.
