Reading, PA. - Hunter College men's volleyball went 2-0 over the weekend, earning wins over the College of Saint Elizabeth and Alvernia University to improve to seven victories on the season.
The Hawks are now 7-4 overall and 2-0 in the CUNYAC.
Hunter 3, St. Elizabeth 0
Hunter started the day by defeating the Eagles in three sets with scores of 25-11, 25-21 and 25-14. The Hawks hit .301 in the three-set sweep, holding the Eagles to a mark of .067 in a match .
Daniel Kim led the team with 12 kills, while
Daniel Dobrogowski followed with ten kills and
Austen Rerick added eight.
Kim also led the Purple and Gold on defense, recording 11 digs, as Joe Muir chipped in ten.
Alec Helford and Muir split time at the setter position, earning 28 and 15 assists, respectively, to get the win.
Hunter 3, Alvernia 1
The Hawks got their fourth-straight win later in the day by taking down Alvernia in four sets, featuring scores of 25-20, 25-22, 26-28 and 25-18.
Matthew Zukowski and
Blake Hogan each notched 13 kills, with Hogan recording a team-high .353 hitting percentage.
Qendrim Shala followed with 11 and
Benjamin Cassidy added nine kills in the win.
Muir posted 20 digs for a season-high and Shala registered 11 in the victory. Helford notched 52 assists.
The Hawks return to action on Tuesday, Feb. 26 when they travel to the College of Staten Island for a 6 p.m. match.
