Jamaica, N.Y. - Hunter College women's basketball got a victory on Saturday afternoon over York College, defeating the Cardinals with a score of 85-51.
The Purple and Gold improved to 16-5 and 9-3 in the conference, while York is now 3-10 in the CUNYAC.
Hunter took an early lead to earn a 41-25 advantage at halftime. Aponte led the team in the first two quarters, scoring 13 points and hitting three three-pointers. The Hawks continued to dominate in the third and fourth, outscoring the Cardinals 44-26.
The Purple and Gold finished the game with a 45.3 field goal percentage, holding York to a mark of 33.3 percent. Hunter forced 33 York errors and out-rebounded the Cardinals 50-38.
Aponte recorded 16 points in the win, followed by 12 points from
Ashley Arias and 10 from
Ashley Yu. Eleven players scored in the Hunter victory.
The team returns to action on February 6 when they travel to the College of Staten Island.
