Montclair, N.J. - Hunter College softball fell in two game against Montclair State University on Tuesday evening, dropping the first game with a score of 6-0 and falling in the second 9-4.
The Hawks are now 3-5 overall this season while the Red Hawks improved to 10-4.
Hunter was unable to score in the first game of the day as
Caroline Bibula got the loss as pitcher. Bibula,
Leanna Donahue,
Alana Vezza and
Alisha Dovicsak all posted hits in the defeat.
The Purple and Gold regained composure for the second game, registering 11 hits. Bibula each a sacrifice fly to allowe Colleen McCoy to score and go into the second inning with a tied score of 1-1. The Hawks scored again in the fourth inning when
Nicole Guzzone doubled to right field, earning two RBI's as
Samantha Molloy and
Brittney Salvador made it to home plate.
In the fifth, Molloy singled to send
Stefanie Abolt home and make the score 8-4. Unfortunately the Hawks could not make up the difference in the final two innings as they fell, 9-4.
The team returns to action on Thursday when they travel to St. Joseph's College Long Island for a doubleheader.
