BOX SCORE 2 New York, N.Y. - Hunter College softball fell in two games on Thursday to St. Joseph's College Long Island with scores of 11-3 and 4-2.
Hunter dropped to 3-7 this season, while the Golden Eagles improved to 4-4 overall.
St. Joseph's jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning before the Hawks would score in the second to make the score 4-2. The Purple and Gold scored again in the third when
Stefanie Abolt singled up the middle to allow
Jamie Durso to reach home.Â
Hunter was unable to bridge the gap in the remaining innings as the Golden Eagles took the game 11-3.
Abolt and
Caroline Bibula posted two hits each to lead the Purple and Gold in the loss.
St. Joe's started with an early lead again in the second game, posting four runs in the first two innings. The Hawks made a comeback in the sixth when
Samantha Molloy doubled to left field, sending Dilailah Gomez and Bibula home. The Golden Eagles were able to hold off the Hawks to take the game 4-2.
The team returns to action on April 3 when they travel to The College at Old Westbury for a doubleheader.
