New York, N.Y. - Hunter College softball earned two victories in exciting fashion on Monday, taking down Lehman College with scores of 15-2 and 7-6.
The Hawks improved to 6-10 this season and maintain an undefeated 4-0 record in CUNYAC play.
Hunter started the day with a 15-2 win over the Lightning, dominating Lehman with 15 hits to the Lightning's four. Hunter went up 5-0 in the first inning off hits from Colleen McCoy, Jame Durso,
Stefanie Abolt,
Alisha Dovicsak and Gianna Raimondi.
The Purple and Gold scored six runs in the second and then four in the third, allowing just two runs from Lehman to take the game. Raimondi led the team with four RBI's, while Dovicsak followed with three.
Nicole Guzzone got the win for the Hawks from the circle.
The Lightning struck first in the second game, making the score 1-0. The Hawks caught back up in the third as McCoy singled to allow
Brittney Salvador to score, while Abolt and
Annalise McClellan posted RBI's to give Hunter the 3-1 lead.
Lehman had a big fourth inning, scoring four runs to go back up 5-3. In the seventh inning with the score tied at seven, Salvador doubled to allow
Samantha Molloy to make it home, giving the Hawks the walk off victory.
Leanna Donahue earned the win at pitcher.
The team returns to action on Wednesday when they host Mount Saint Vincent at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. at Randall's Island.
