Old Westbury, N.Y. - Hunter College softball split their doubleheader against Old Westbury on Thursday night, falling in the first game with a score fo 8-4 before getting a victory in the second, 11-1.
The Hawks improved to 4-8 this season with the win.
Hunter fell behind 7-0 in the first five innings of game one, but finally scored in the sixth when
Alisha Dovicsak hit a single to get the Hawks on the scoreboard.
The Purple and Gold recorded three more runs in the seventh, but it was not enough to catch up to the Panthers as they fell 8-4.
The Panthers were the first to score in the second game of the day, but it would be the last of their runs as Hunter quickly took control of the game in the second inning.
Colleen McCoy and Dovicsak each tallied three hits in the victory as McCoy posted two RBi's.
Jamie Durso added two RBI's of her own, while Gianna Raimondi and Allyson Bricker recorded two hits each.
Leanna Donahue got the win at pitcher in the 11-1 victory.
The team returns to action on Friday when they host the University of Scranton at 3 p.m. in a doubleheader.
