Edgewater, N.J. - Hunter College women's tennis dropped a match to CUNYAC opponent John Jay College on Thursday afternoon at the Binghamton Racquet Club with a score of 7-2.
With the loss, the Hawks drop to 1-2 and even out to 1-1 in conference play. The Bloodhounds improved to 2-1 on the season.
The Purple and Gold were swept in doubles competition, with the duo of
Mehriniso Khaydarova and
Monika Zaboklicki falling in a close 8-6 match after dropping an early lead at the no. 2 spot.
Maria Kogarova came away with a her first singles win of the year, defeating her opponent at the no. 1 court with score of 6-4 and 7-5 to get Hunter on the board.
Tenzin Zompa was the other victory for the Hawks, defeating her opponent at no. 6 singles with scores of 6-4 and 6-2.
The two wins were not enough for the Purple and Gold to catch up to the Bloodhounds, eventually falling 7-2.
The team returns to action on Saturday, September 15 when they travel to Sarah Lawrence College.
