Bronxville, N.Y. - Hunter College women's tennis earned its second win of the season on Saturday, defeating Sarah Lawrence College with a commanding score of 9-0.
The victory helped the Purple and Gold improve to 2-2 this year, while the Gryphons dropped to 1-2.
The Hawks jumped out to a lead in doubles play as the no. 1 court duo of
Maria Kogarova and
Luisa Sujan took down their opponents, 8-2.
Yana Rabkova and
Elaine Zhang finished off their win with a score of 8-3, before
Anna Baylosis and
Ksenia Zevyakina earned an 8-2 victory at court no. 3.
Hunter remained in control in singles, sweeping all Gryphon players, led by the efforts of Kogarova, Sujan and Zhang at the no. 1, 2 and 3 spots, respectively. Rabkova, Zhang and
Tenzin Zompa finished out the match for the Hawks, each getting the best of their opponents to solidify the 9-0 team win.
The squad returns to action on September 22 when they travel to St. Joseph's of Brooklyn for a 12 p.m. match.
