Women's Volleyball Improves to 5-0 in CUNYAC Play

Hawks Get A Three-Set Win Over Lehman

New York, N.Y. - Hunter College women's volleyball got a three-set win over Lehman College on Tuesday night to improve to 5-0 in conference play.

The Hawks are now 12-2 overall this season, defeating the Lightning with scores of 25-8, 25-11 and 25-7.

Hunter took an early lead to start the first set, jumping out to a score of 19-5. They finished off Lehman with kills from Kayshawna Richardson, Isabelle Lawrence and Emily Wasson to take the first by 17 points.

Leading 18-10 in the second set, the Purple and Gold went on a 7-1 run, finding kills from Mariam Ouattara and Curran Murray to hand the Lightning a 25-11 loss.

The Hawks remained in control in the third, leading with a score of 18-6 before posting the last seven-straight points of the set. Hunter took advantage of several Lightning errors to win the third set, 25-7 and get the three-set match victory.

The Purple and Gold recorded a hitting percentage of .407, holding Lehman to a mark of -.106.

Richardson and Lawrence led the team on offense with seven kills each, with Murray adding six of her own. Justine Smith paced the team with 14 assists, while Sunghee Cho notched a team-high seven digs. Vanessa Sanchez chipped in four digs for the Hawks on defense.

The team returns to the court on Thursday, September 27 when they travel to New Paltz.
