New Paltz, N.Y. - Hunter College women's volleyball dropped its third match of the season on Thursday night, dropping three-straight sets to New Paltz College with scores of 25-21, 25-21 and 25-15.
The Hawks dropped to 12-3 this season, while New Paltz is now 15-3.
With New Paltz leading 12-9 in the first set, Hunter began a comeback, outscoring New Paltz 9-3 with the help of two service aces from
Sunghee Cho to pull ahead 18-15. NPC responded with five-straight points, taking back the lead 24-20 and ending on a kill to win the set, 25-21.
The Purple and Gold started the next set strong, earning three kills from
Isabelle Lawrence,
Emily Wasson and
Taylor Haiduk, as well as a service ace from
Miranda Hogan for the early lead. Hunter and New Paltz went back-and-forth for the rest of the set, tying the score 11 times. Tied 21-21, New Paltz scored the next four points to take it, 25-21.
In the third set the Hawks struggled to keep up, falling behind 8-2 and unable to get closer than five points of New Paltz. They eventually fell 25-15 to lose the match, 3-0.
Haiduk led the team with nine kills and nine digs in the loss, while Hogan posted 18 assists.
The squad returns to action on Saturday, September 29 when they face Arcadia University and Desales University in a tri-match.
