Men's Soccer Falls to Dolphins In Overtime, 3-2

Hawks Score First Two Goals of the Game

Riverdale, N.Y. - Hunter College men's soccer dropped its third-straight game on Saturday in a hard-fought contest against the College of Mount Saint Vincent, resulting in a loss in overtime play with a score of 3-2.

The Hawks managed to score the first two goals of the game before the Dolphins tied it up and sent the game into extra minutes. With the loss, the Purple and Gold dropped to 1-3 this season, while CMSV earned their first win of the year (1-2).

At the 25 minute mark freshman Blaise Enama struck the ball into the back of the net to give Hunter the lead. The team went into halftime with a edge on shots, recording eight to the Dolphins' seven.

The Hawks came out strong in the second half with three quick shots from Arman Zamazadeh and Thomas Leira in the first six minutes. The Purple and Gold got what they were looking for when Jesus Patino Muniz found Johnathan Bautista off a corner kick, who then netted the ball to make the score 2-0.

The celebration was cut short when CMSV recorded their first goal just seven minutes later. The Hawks did their best to hold them off for the rest of the game, but the Dolphins managed a goal in the last three minutes of regulation to tie the score and send it into overtime.

Mount Saint Vincent got the victory when they scored two minutes into overtime to earn the 3-2 win.

Zamazadeh finished with five shots for the Hawks, followed by four from Enama. Bautista added three, while Leira and Muniz each had two in the loss. In goal for the Hawks was Noah Dougherty, who was credited with one save.

The team returns to the field on September 12 when they travel to Farmingdale State College.
