New York, N.Y. - Hunter College women's basketball won its fourth-straight game on Friday night, defeating John Jay College with a score of 86-61 at the Sportsplex.
The Hawks evened out to 8-8 overall this season and improved to 7-1 in conference play, while the Bloodhounds are now 4-3 in the CUNYAC.
John Jay led for most of the first quarter, taking a five-point lead at the 1:31 minute mark.
Selina Lim hit a three-pointer and then stole the ball and hit a fast break layup to tie the score going into the second. The Hawks started the second quarter strong as
Janine Conway hit back-to-back shots and
Phoebe Valenton made a layup to help Hunter go up by six. They held on to the lead for the rest of the quarter, going into halftime with a 36-29 advantage.
The Purple and Gold came out in the third with a 17-2 run, to get a comfortable 22-point lead. The team finished it off in the fourth, eventually winning 86-61.
Conway led with 24 points, followed by
Ashley Arias' double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Jade Aponte and Lim chipped in 10 points apiece in the victory.
The Hawks return to action on Wednesday, January 16 when they host Medgar Evers at 5 p.m.
