Jamaica, N.Y. - Hunter College women's basketball earned its ninth conference win on Friday night, defeating York College with a score of 86-46 at the York Gym.
The Hawks have now won six-straight games, improving to 10-8 overall this season and 9-1 in CUNYAC play.
Hunter led for the entire 40 minutes, getting the first points of the game from
Janine Conway. Leading by eight points to start the second quarter, Conway sunk a three to make the score 29-18 and continue the Hawks' advantage.
From there Hunter outscored York 20-8 to lead at the half, 49-26.
Aponte opened up the third quarter with a basket from behind the arc 20 seconds in, and then managed to score two more over the next three minutes. The Purple and Gold continued to score in the fourth, going up by as much as 43 points with five minutes to play, but eventually finishing off the Cardinals with a score of 86-46.
Aponte led the team with 18 points, followed by 16 from Conway.
Theresa Leung recorded 15 points in the win, while dishing out five assists and grabbing six rebounds.
Phoebe Valenton earned 11 points, going 3-3 from the three-point line.
The squad returns to action on Monday, January 21 when they host The College of New Jersey at 1 p.m.
