New York, N.Y. - Hunter College women's basketball defeated Lehman College on Monday evening, getting the win with a score of 75-36.

With the victory, the Hawks improved to 6-8 this season and 5-1 in CUNYAC play.

The Purple and Gold shot 40.6 percent from the field, while holding the Lightning to just 13 field goals. The team forced 26 Lehman turnovers for 28 of their points, while Hunter's bench also contributed 31 points in the win.

The Hawks got a serious advantage in the third quarter when they outscored the Lightning 28-6 over the 10 minute span of play to lead, 61-27. Hunter finished it off by going up by as much as 42 points in the fourth and finishing with a score of 75-36.

Ten players scored in the win with Jade Aponte leading the way with 21 points. She was followed by Janine Conway's 10 points and six steals.

The team returns to action on Wednesday, January 9 when they travel to CCNY.
