New York, N.Y. - Hunter College women's basketball held CCNY to just 40 points on Wednesday evening to get a 76-40 win at the Nat Holman Gymnasium.
The Hawks improved to 7-8 and 6-1 in CUNYAC play, while the Beavers are now 4-2 in the conference.
Hunter took over in the second quarter of the game, outscoring the Beavers 26-9 in the ten minutes to lead 28-17 at the half.
Jade Aponte scored the first eight points for the Hawks in the third, while
Christine Patterson followed that up with four-straight points of her own to help them go up by 25.
The Purple and Gold continued to convert on shots in the fourth, going on a 15-4 run in the first five minutes to make the score 76-37. The Beavers scored just once more in the remaining minutes to fall to the Hawks, 76-40.
Aponte led the squad with 18 points, followed by
Phoebe Valenton's 16. Valenton had a successful shooting night, going 5-5 from the field, including 2-2 from behind the three-point line.
Ashley Arias was one rebound shy of a double-double, scoring 14 points and grabbing nine boards.
Janine Conway added 12 points, hitting four of six shots in the win.
The team returns to action on Friday when they host John Jay College at 5 p.m.
