Women’s Tennis earns top seed in CUNYAC tournament

The Hawks were undefeated in conference play.

New York, NY - Hunter College earned the #1 seed in the CUNYAC Women's Tennis Championship Tournament as announced by the conference office. The Hawks were crowned as the regular season champions with an unblemished CUNYAC record of 6-0 and an impressive 9-1 overall mark. They will earn a first round bye and begin play in the semi-final round.

Baruch (9-2, 4-1 CUNYAC) took the #2 seed while John Jay (6-3, 3-2 CUNYAC) snagged the third spot. Rounding out the final three is #4 Lehman (8-6, 2-3 CUNYAC), #5 Brooklyn (2-10, 1-4 CUNYAC) and #6 seeded York College (0-7, 0-5 CUNYAC). The CUNYAC tournament will begin on Sunday, October 20th with #3 John Jay hosting #6 York College and #4 Lehman matching up against #5 Brooklyn College.
 
Hunter will begin tournament play on Tuesday, October 22nd at 3pm against the winner of Lehman and Brooklyn College. The other semi-final will have Baruch hosting the winner of the John Jay vs York. Should the hawks win their semi-final matchup they would play in the finals on Friday, October 25th at the USTA National Tennis Center at 3pm.
 
Last year, the Purple and Gold made a run in the tournament but fell to Brooklyn in the championship.
 
Tickets to the tournament are required for entry. It is strongly suggested that you secure your tickets for free online before attending the event. Obtaining a ticket, the day of will delay entry to the match. Fans can secure their tickets at www.cunyathletics.com/tickets
