Hunter fell into an early 9-3 hole but came back to pull within one at 12-11. They hung tough over the final stages of the set and a Hurst kill brought them to within three points late, but Stevens secured the set win with three unanswered points.
In the second,
Alyssa Broccoli's squad turned the tables and went on a 6-0 run to take an early 7-2 lead. Stevens fired back with a 10-3 run of their own, setting the scoreboard at 21-17. However, the Duck's Allie Morton secured the set point for her team with a kill to go up 2-0.
The third was evenly played throughout and featured five ties. Back-to-back Stevens errors left the door open for the Hawks to get back in it with the score at 22-21 in favor of the visitors. But it was the Ducks who raced to 25 first with three straight points.
Up next, Hunter will compete in a tri-match on Saturday. The first will be against host institution, Scranton at 2:30pm and they will cap the day against DeSales at 5pm.
