#2 Men's Soccer Begins Post-Season Run on Saturday

The Hawks earned a first-round bye

New York, NY - With the CUNYAC Men's Soccer Championship Tournament on the horizon, the #2 seeded Hawks are looking to make a run for the program's sixth title and first since 2010. They earned the second seed by way of a 6-1-0 conference record.

The last time the Purple and Gold appeared in the championship game was back in 2016 when they fell to Lehman by a score of 2-1. Last season, they lost to Lehman in the first round in a 3-3 thriller that came down to penalty kicks. Two years ago, they were bounced in the first round by Brooklyn by a score of 3-1. This year, Hunter is playing their best soccer when it matters most and are poised for a championship run.

The Purple and Gold have the same conference mark as Lehman, but lost to the Lightning in their meeting earlier this year. Therefore, the tie-breaker goes to Lehman as they sit atop the seeding as #1. Baruch and Brooklyn grabbed the #3 and #4 spots respectively while John Jay edged out CCNY for the #5 spot. Both the Hawks and the Lightning earned a first round bye and will begin play on Saturday, November 2. Meanwhile, the tournament will begin on Wednesday, October 30 with #6 CCNY taking on #3 Baruch and #5 John Jay at #4 Brooklyn College. Hunter awaits the winner of Baruch and CCNY while Lehman plays the winner of John Jay and Brooklyn.

Hunter will play at Flowers Park in New Rochelle this Saturday at 3:20. The Championship game will be on Saturday, November 9 on the campus of Brooklyn College with a start time of 4:30pm. Tickets are required for the finals but are free and can be obtained here.
