Men's Volleyball Improves to 4-0 in CUNYAC Play With Wins Over John Jay and Brooklyn

Hawks Take Down Both Teams In Three Sets

Brooklyn, N.Y. - Hunter College men's volleyball earned two sweeps in a CUNYAC tri-match on Saturday, defeating John Jay College and Brooklyn College in three sets each.

The Hawks are now 11-5 overall this season, while holding a mark of 4-0 in conference play. The Bloodhounds fell to 2-3 and the Bulldogs are now 1-3 in the CUNYAC.

The Purple and Gold took down the Bloodhounds in three sets with scores of 25-16, 25-14 and 25-13 to begin the day. 

Hunter tallied 35 kills to John Jay's 12 in the victory, while adding 12 blocks to the stat line.

Christian Maisonet and Cyrus De Guzman led the team with seven kills each, as De Guzman had just one error for a .667 hitting percentage. Alec Helford posted 31 assists and Chris Scandole led the defense with nine digs in the win.

Hunter 3, Brooklyn 0
The Hawks rolled to their second victory of the day when they defeated Brooklyn in three, featuring scores of 25-17, 25-15 and 25-19.

Hunter recorded their best hitting percentage since February 27, hitting .288 in the match, while holding the Bulldogs to a mark of -.044.

Maisonet had another solid offensive game, notching 13 kills and three service aces. Sebastian Vargas guided the offense by registering 27 assists and Samuel Gibson led the defense with seven digs.

The team returns to action on Wednesday, March 13 when they host New York University at 7 p.m.
