Brooklyn, N.Y. - Hunter College softball had two dominant performances against conference opponent Brooklyn College on Thursday evening, taking down the Bulldogs with scores of 14-3 and 12-0.
The victories help the Hawks improve to 14-7 overall this season and 7-1 in the CUNYAC.
Hunter jumped out to 5-0 lead in the first inning as
Brittney Salvador tripled,
Francesca Cipollina found a single and
Gianna Raimondi recorded two RBI. The Bulldogs responded with a run of their own, but the Hawks continued to hit well, scoring nine runs through the fourth inning.
Brooklyn managed two more runs in the remaining time, but the Purple and Gold took the game, 14-3.
Nicole Rivera led the Hawks at pitcher, holding the Bulldogs to just two hits in the game.
Cipollina went 3-3 on the day, while Raimondi and Salvador each had two hits in the victory.
The Hawks shut out Brooklyn in the second game to sweep the doubleheader as Cipollina got the win from inside the circle.
Hunter tallied 10 hits, led by
Caroline Bibula, Salvador and
Dilailah Gomez's two hits apiece.
Alana Vezza,
Meaghan Sabella,
Maria Laboy and
Samantha Molloy also contributed hits in the 12-0 win.
The team returns to action on April 13 when they travel to the University of Scranton for a doubleheader, starting at 1 p.m.
