Scranton, PA - Hunter College softball fell in a doubleheader on Saturday to the University of Scranton, dropping the first game 8-0 and getting edged out in the second, 5-4.
The Hawks are now 14-9 this season, while maintaining a 7-1 CUNYAC record.
With
Caroline Bibula in the circle in the first game, the Royals managed 10 hits, scoring eight runs in five innings. Hunter's
Alana Vezza got the Hawks' only hit in the loss.
The Purple and Gold bounced back in the second game as
Allyson Bricker and
Gianna Raimondi had big hits in the second inning to give Hunter a 2-0 lead.
Scranton tied it up off a home run, but
Brittney Salvador responded with a homer of her own in the fourth to give Hunter a 3-2 advantage. The Royals pulled ahead in the next two innings to make the score 5-3. The Hawks came close to catching up in the seventh as
Kayla Pilotti singled through the left side to help Hunter trail by just one run, but it was not enough to tie the game.
Colleen McCoy led the team with two hits in the loss, while four other Hawks earned hits.
The team returns to the field on April 18 when they travel to Lehman College for a doubleheader starting at 3:30 p.m.
