New York, N.Y. - Hunter College men's soccer started off the 2019 season with a game against Fredonia State, tying the Blue Devils with a final score of 2-2.
The Hawks got on the board first at the 25 minute mark in the first half as
Blaise Enama found the back of the net to go up 1-0. The Hawks followed that up just eight minutes later when
Jesus Patino Muniz converted on a penalty kick to give Hunter a 2-0 advantage.
Fredonia State would not score until the second half, finding a goal off a throw in to trail by just one. They tied it up at 52:33, scoring off a free kick to send the game into overtime. Neither team would record a goal in the two overtimes to end in a stalemate.
The Hawks tallied 10 shots to the Blue Devils' 13 in the game, while Fredonia had five corner kicks to Hunter's one.
Muniz led the Hawks with three shots, followed by Enama's two. Goalkeeper Noah Doughtery notched two saves in the game.
The team returns to action tomorrow when they host SUNY Cobleskill at 12 p.m.
