New York, N.Y. - Hunter College women's volleyball kicked off conference play on Saturday by hosting a CUNYAC Tri-Match at the Sportsplex. The Hawks swept Lehman College and Brooklyn College in three sets each to improve to 2-0 in the league.
The Hawks are now 4-4 overall this season.
The Purple and Gold started the day with a three-set win over Lehman which featured scores of 25-3, 25-15 and 25-8. Hunter recorded a .299 hitting percentage in the victory, while holding the Lightning to a negative mark.
Mariam Ouattara led the team with 10 kills, hitting .500 off 14 attacks.
Summer Magliochetti added 20 assists, while
Vanessa Sanchez highlighted the defense with 15 digs.
The day was completed with a three-set rout of Brooklyn in the afternoon as the Hawks took the match with scores of 25-20, 25-12 and 25-14.Â
Kendra Moore stood out from the group after tallying 12 kills and zero errors for a hitting percentage of .706 in the win. Magliochetti registered 40 assists and
Sofia Caradonna posted a team-high 14 digs.
The team returns to action on Thursday, September 19 when they host CCNY.
