Men's Soccer Takes Down Brooklyn, 3-1

New York, N.Y. - Hunter College men's soccer found two first half goals to lift them over conference opponent Brooklyn College in their CUNYAC opener on Wednesday, 3-1.

The Hawks improved to 2-5-1 overall this season, while the Bulldogs dropped to 0-8.

Scoring began early as Hunter's Thomas Leira hit the back of the net off a fastbreak just one minute into the game to give the Hawks the early 1-0 lead. Jesus Patino Muniz was credited with the assist.

Moments later, Muniz converted off a penalty kick at the 27:30 minute mark to give the Purple and Gold the 2-0 edge going into halftime.

In the second half Arman Zamanzadeh passed to Blaise Enama, who dribbled down the field, before finding an opening in the goal to help the Hawks make the score 3-0. The Bulldogs managed a goal off a penalty kick in the last 20 minutes of the game, but the Hawks held them off long enough to get the 3-1 victory.

Hunter out-shot the Bulldogs 23 to nine. Muniz led the team with five shots, while Regis Enama followed with four. Mikey Tzanetatos registered three shots in the win, including two on goal.

Hunter goalkeeper Noah Dougherty tallied four saves to get the win.

The team returns to action on Wednesday, October 2 when they travel to Lehman College for a 4 p.m. game.
