Montclair, NJ – The men's soccer team faced a difficult opponent in Montclair State yesterday evening, falling to the non-conference opponent by a score of 7-0. The loss sets the Purple and Gold back to 0-2-1 while the Red Hawks advance to 3-0.
Hunter managed just three shots all game, two of which were on goal but were stopped by Montclair's keeper. For the Hawks,
Jean Palacios and
Thomas Leira were the lone players who registered shots on goal while
Blaise Enama accounted for their only other shot of the game.
Noah Dougherty suffered the loss and was credited with seven saves.
Montclair got on the scoreboard in the 26
th minute courtesy of Jose Huerta, his first of two goals of the game. The Red Hawks tacked on two more in the 37
th and 39
th minutes to head into halftime with a 3-0 lead.
The hosts added another four goals in the second half while holding Hunter at bay, resulting in a 7-0 contest. Head coach
John Sanchez and his squad continue to look for their first win as they head north to Bronxville on Saturday, September 7 to square off against Sarah Lawrence. First kick is slated for a 7pm start.
