Bronx, NY – The women's basketball team got back to their winning ways after knocking off Lehman by a score of 82-58 last night on the road. The victory marks their seventh out of their last nine games and bumps their overall record to 8-6 and moves them to 4-1 in CUNYAC action.
Janine Conway's 10-15 shooting from the floor netted her a team high 25 points while
Theresa Leung did most of her damage from behind the arc, knocking down four triples to aid in her 19 point, seven assist performance.
Phoebe Valenton was an efficient 6-7 from the field and finished the evening with 13 points.
The Hawks scored an impressive 28 points in the first quarter which essentially sealed the deal early on. After trailing 8-7, the Hawks turned it up their offense while Lehman struggled to knock down shots. The hosts went 1-10 during the span while the Hawks rattled off a 21-2 run to lead by 18 at the conclusion of the first.
In the second, Lehman was able to get within 14 points but over the final 3:12, a 13-5 Hunter run pushed the lead to 22 before entering the half. The point differential grew to as much as 29 in the final half. Despite being outscored by one in the last quarter, the Hawks' commanding lead from the start proved to be more than enough to secure their eighth win of the season.
Hunter returns to action on Wednesday, January 15 when they host CCNY at 5pm.
