Women's Basketball Routs Medgar Evers, 97-43.

The Hawks had 14 score at least three points in the win.

Brooklyn, NY – The women's basketball team got back to their winning ways on Wednesday evening after coming away with a dominant 97-43 victory over Medgar Evers College in the CUNYAC matchup.
 
There were 14 Hunter (10-7, 6-2 CUNYAC) players who registered at least three points in the lopsided affair. Led by Janine Conway's perfect 6-6 performance from the field, she netted 13 points in just seven minutes of action. Nicole Ballin added 11 points while Madison LaSalle chipped in with 10 points. Nia Chung was the game's leading rebounder after grabbing nine misses.
 
As a team, the Purple and Gold shot an impressive 55.1 percent from the field including going 12-27 from downtown. The bench accounted for more than half of the team's total points with 58 while on the defensive end, they forced 24 turnovers and tallied 16 steals. Additionally, they won the battle on the boards by an +18 rebound margin.
 
The Hawks opened the game by making all seven of their attempts from the field with Conway accounting for nine of their 19 unanswered points. The 19-0 run proved to be crippling for the hosts as they would not be able to come back. Medgar Evers finally got on the board after being held scoreless through the opening 4:36. At the conclusion of the first, Hunter led 35-9.
 
Despite a 20-point second quarter effort, Hunter held a comfortable 33 point lead. The Cougars managed just six field goals in the second half which included a single three pointer and fell behind by a significant margin. LaSalle capped the 54-point victory with two made free throws.
 
Up next, the Hawks return to action on Friday, January 24 when they travel to Kings Point to take on the United States Merchant Marine Academy in a non-conference contest. Tip-off is slated for 5:30pm.
