DANBURY, Conn. – The Hunter College women's basketball team will see postseason action as the team earned the fifth seed in the upcoming Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Tournament. They will open up with a quarterfinal contest against fourth-seeded Stevenson University which takes place at 2:30 p.m. on Friday on the campus of Cabrini University.
The Hawks came off another impressive season, amassing a record of 16-11 and 11-3 in conference play. IN the CUNYAC Tournament, #2 Hunter made it all the way to the Final of the CUNYAC Championship, but fell just short of top-seeded Brooklyn, 62-57.
This season, the Hawks have been led by a trio of seniors who each average over 10 points-per-game.
Janine Conway had an excellent season, averaging 18.0 points a contest which ranks third in the conference.
Theresa Leung has also been an offensive key as she dishes out 3.5 assists a game to go along with her average of 12.5 points.
Phoebe Valenton completes the threesome, coming off a career-high 32 points in the CUNYAC semifinal win over John Jay.
Hunter's trip to the ECAC Tournament marks the second time in the past three years that the squad has earned a bid. In 2018, the Hawks fell to William Paterson University in a double-overtime thriller.
