Brooklyn, N.Y.- Led by
Josh IIyadzhanov the Hunter College men's soccer team shut down conference opponent, Medgar Evers, 4-0 on Wednesday afternoon.
IIyadzhanov's pair of goals aided the Hawks (3-8, 3-2 CUNYAC) in the victory. The junior's first marked the lone goal of the period in the 31st minute, assisted by
Sammy Ahmed to send Medgar Evers (0-9, 0-4 CUNYAC) into halftime behind by one.
Hunter's bench made an impact in the second period, starting with
Robin Sebastian's header from
Alejandro Sanchez in the 59th minute. Just over 10 minutes later in the 70th minute,
Amadou Kane scored with another header, this time assisted by
Luis Chure as the Hawks extended their lead to three over the Cougars. Iiyadzhanov would find the back of the net again in the 85th minute to lock in the win, 4-0.
Overall the Purple and Gold out shot the Cougars, 26-6. Keeper,
Antony Simos logged three saves in the win while Medgar Ever's tender saved eight of Hunter's 12 shots on goal.
The Hawks return to the pitch Saturday (Oct. 16) for another conference game against City College of N.Y. in Brooklyn.
