Men's Soccer Grabs First Win With 2-0 Shutout Over Brooklyn

The Hawks snap a seven-game skid

Brooklyn, NY – The men's soccer team snapped a seven-game skid earlier this afternoon after shutting out Brooklyn College by a score of 2-0. The victory gives the Purple and Gold their first victory and puts their record at 1-7 overall and 1-1 in league action.

Despite being outshot by an 18-2 margin, Hunter made their attempts count by scoring on both. Less than 30 seconds into the game, on a feed from Blaise Enama, Sammy Ahmed beat Brooklyn keeper Balint Barabas for the first score of the game and the 1-0 lead.

In the 21st minute, it was Manjiro Nishmura who set up the scoring play, finding Enama who notched his first score of the season to give the Purple and Gold a 2-0 advantage. It proved to be an insurance goal as the Hawk defense held Brooklyn scoreless for 90 minutes.

Antony Simos had a busy day in goal, taking the win and making seven saves in the process.

The Hawks return to action on Wednesday, October 6 when they host Lehman College for a CUNYAC matchup. Fist kick is slated for a 3pm start at Randall's Island.
