Hoboken, N,J.- The Hunter College women's basketball team dropped a 72-40 nonconference decision to Stevens Institute of Technology on the road Monday night.
The Hawks (2-2) trailed early on but managed to tie things up 7-7 with four minutes left to play in the first quarter as senior,
Kristina Krslovic, hit a jumper in the paint. Despite a pair of threes by freshman guard,
Erin Cosio, in the second quarter, Hunter entered halftime trailing Stevens (5-1), 36-15.
Katie Burke managed a back-to-back layup and three pointer combination early on in the third but it wasn't enough as the Ducks' defense kept Hunter off the board for the remainder of the period.
The final quarter of play saw an impressive 20 points for the Purple and Gold as
Eliah Yode and
Rachel Akil dropped four points a piece. The late game energy burst wouldn't be a enough as Hunter eventually fell, 72-40.
Cosio led the team with eight points in the loss, while Krslovic logged a season-high eight rebounds.
Hunter College will break for the holiday and return to the court Nov. 29 for another road match against The College of New Jersey before hosting Baruch College in its homecoming conference opener on Dec. 3.
