Men's Basketball Downed by Baruch, 103-79

Everyone on Hunter's roster scored at least one point

New York, NY – The men's basketball team played host to downtown CUNYAC rivals, Baruch College earlier this evening. The Hawks' offense was unable to find its rhythm and resulted in an insurmountable deficit after the first half. The final score of the evening was 103-79 in favor of Baruch. With the loss, the Purple and Gold slip to 3-4 overall and 0-1 in league action.

Jeremy Montrose was the Hawk's leading scorer with 14 points while everyone on the roster registered at least one point. Luka Jakic posted eight points to go along with his eight rebounds.

Cormac Reilly wasted no time and hit a triple from the tip off on a Jared Brown feed. The Hawks stayed in command of the lead and held a five-point advantage at the 12:59 mark after Jakic knocked down a deuce. It proved to be their largest of the half. However, over 2:15, Baruch sparked a 9-0 run to flip the tables and make it a four-point affair in their favor. Ernie Parada grabbed an offensive board and went back up with a field goal to stop the bleeding.

However, over the final minutes, it was a game of hot and cold with Baruch going 10-13 from the floor while Hunter struggled to knock down a shot and went 0-6. The outcome was a crippling 24-2 run and a 21-point Hunter deficit. They headed into the break with an 18-point uphill battle to overcome in the second act.

After the Bearcat's Michael Richards opened the half with a layup, Hunter responded with a 7-0 run of their own, sparked by a Jeremy Montrose jumper and ending with two made free throws from Proper to come back to within 13. However, it's as close as they would get. The hole ballooned to as much as 30 points and proved to be to much to come back from. When the final buzzer sounded, it showed 103-79 in Baruch's favor.

The Hawks are back in action on Wednesday, December 8 when they travel to Maritime College for a non-conference game. Tip-off is scheduled for a 7pm start.
