Farmingdale, N.Y.- On Saturday evening, the Hunter College men's soccer team fell to The College at Old Westbury, 1-2.
The first half started quickly, with both teams recording shots early on. In the 23rd minute Old Westbury (2-2) would get on the board first, with a goal by Jonothan Hernandez. The Hawks (0-3) answered back promptly in the 29th minute, as freshman
Bradley Espejo netted his first career goal. He was assisted by CUNYAC Preseason Player of the Year,
Blaise Enama, for his first point of the season. The two teams would combine for six more shots in the half unsuccessfully, as the first period closed out 1-1.
The Panthers would net another goal early on, taking a 2-1 lead over Hunter in the 46th minute of play. Although the Hawks would record three shots and corners a piece for the remainder of competition, they were unable to find the back of the net again.
Old Westbury out shot the Purple and Gold overall 15 to 9, but would be matched in shots on goal as each team recorded five for the night. Hunter goal keeper,
Antony Simos, logged a season-high three saves in the loss.
The Hawks continue their season Tuesday Sept. 21 against New York University in Brooklyn, N.Y. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
