Soccer Drops Game Against Purchase in OT

Purchase, N.Y.- The Hunter College men's soccer team fell to Purchase, 3-2, in overtime in a non-conference competition Saturday afternoon.

Purchase College (2-2-0) was the first to strike, taking the lead early in the 14th minute. Not long after, the Hawks (0-6) would find the back of the net in the 33rd. Bradley Espejo would tie the game up, 1-1, off of the bench, assisted by Sammy Ahmed. This marks Espejo's second goal-scoring game for his rookie season, as he leads the team in the category.

The Hawks took the lead in the second period as Mikael Young-Malka netted his first goal of the season in the 49th minute. Purchase would even the score in the 64th minute off of a penalty kick to send the game into overtime at 2-2.

The OT period ended abruptly as the Panthers scored just 31 seconds in to steal the win from the Hawks.

Hunter returns to the pitch for it's home and conference opener against York College this Wednesday (Sept. 29) at 3 p.m. on Randall's Island.
