Brooklyn, NY - The women's tennis squad advanced their record to 5-1 overall and 3-0 in CUNYAC action after keeping Brooklyn College winless by way of a dominating 8-1 victory. The win puts them in the top spot in league play and marks the third time in as many matches they won by seven points.

The Purple and Gold got off to a hot start by dominating doubles action and nearly sweeping all three flights.
Zaara Afida and
Liliko Chung were lights out at top flight singles while
Angelina Catania and
Bernice Shi were equally impressive at second singles. Each of the duos blanked their opponents 8-0. Meanwhile,
Mia Chan and
Lily O'Heir nearly completed the flawless sweep with an 8-1 win at third singles.

The Hawks were equally as impressive in singles action with Afida once again leading her team with a win at top flight singles by scores of 6-2, 6-1. Catania also impressed at second singles as she defeated Brooklyn's Monica Capon Prado, 6-1, 6-2. Chung added to the win column with a performance of 6-3, 6-3 at third singles while Shi nearly blanked her opponent, 6-0, 6-1. Chan rounded out the eighth and final Hunter point with lawless 6-0 sets over Allison Dubrow. O'Heir was the lone loss for the Purple and Gold; at sixth singles, she split the first two sets with her opponent, but Isabel Brushi got the best of her in the third set, 12-10.

The Hawks are back in action on Saturday, October 2nd when they take on Baruch college. First service is slated for a noon start at the USTA National Tennis Center.
