New York- The Hunter College women's basketball team fell to John Jay, 56-46, in a conference game this evening.
Kimberly Lau led the team with 12 points for the night followed by
Morgan Gress with seven. Every member of the team scored in the loss with six out of nine total players registering three point baskets.
The game was a back-and-forth from the start. The Bloodhounds (6-6, 1-1 CUNYAC) got on the board first, but the Hawks (3-8, 0-2 CUNYAC) responded immediately with a jumper from Lau, followed by a three from
Kristina Krslovic to take the lead. Hunter knocked down five threes in the opening quarter and tacked on another in the second despite heading into the half trailing 28-24.
The Purple and Gold added another 22 points in the second half of play while going 11-16 from the line but were unable to overcoming its opponent in the end.
The Hawks forced 24 turn overs while grabbing 40 rebounds, with 14 coming on the offensive side of the ball.
Hunter returns to the court this Saturday for another conference contest against Brooklyn College. Tip off is slated for 12:00 p.m. at the Hunter Sportsplex.
