New York- The Hunter College men's basketball team fell to to Lehman College, 117-104, in a CUNYAC matchup on Friday evening.
The Hawks (4-7, 0-2 CUNYAC) got off to a slow start, trailing 13-1 to open up play. The Lightening pulled ahead by as much as 31 on two separate occasions but went on a 17-5 run at the end of the first period, cutting the deficit to 10 heading into the intermission.
A 10-0 run early in the second half put the Purple and Gold only four points behind Lehman at 69-65 in the 16th minute.
Jeremy Montrose hit a back-to-back three-pointer and lay up combination to put the Hawks in their closest range since the start of play, 73-70.
With 7:55 on the clock,
Casey Meyers dropped one from behind the arc to tie up the game at 88-88 before
Raheem Bakary tacked on another three to give Hunter it's first lead of the game.
Hunter continued to fight but was unable to overcome the Lightening and ultimately fell in the conference competition.
Luka Jakic and Reilly led the team with 22 points and three steals each for the night. Bakary and Montrose also logged double-digits on the night, registering 13 and 10 points, respectively.
The Hawks return to the court on Monday, Jan. 10 at 7:00 p.m. at Medgar-Evers for another CUNYAC contest.
