Annadale-On-Hudson, N.Y.- The Hunter College women's tennis team defeated Bard College, 9-0, in a non-confernce matchup on Saturday afternoon. All matches were won in straght sets by the Hawks as they remained undefeated at 8-0.
The duo of
Angelina Catania and
Zaara Afida teamed up again to take #1 doubles (8-3). Each Hawk also secured wins in straight sets with Afida taking #1 singles in 6-2, 7-5, and Catania winning #2 singles 6-1, 6-1.
For no. 2 doubles,
Sevinch Rakhmatdinova and
Mia Chan secured another win for Hunter, 8-5. Individualy, Rakhmatdinova dominated in #3 singles, with a 6-3, 6-0 finish. In turn, her counterpart, Chan took home another straight set victory in #5 singles.
Lastly,
Anna Chapko and
Lily O'Heir met to win #3 doubles, 8-6. Chapko secured a 7-6, 6-1 win at #4 singles while Chan won, 6-2, 6-3 at #5.
In her first appearance in the Hunter uniform,
Lily McAndrews a freshman from Indiana, secured a 6-3, 6-1 win to close out the match.
Hunter returns to the court on Oct. 13 as the team travels to the Bronx to take on Lehman College in a conference match at 3:30 pm.
