Bronx, NY- After a day of rain the Hawks travel up to the Bronx for a conference match vs Lehman College on Friday October 14th, With the win Hunter continues to keep it's record undefeated going 9-0 overall and 4-0 in CUNYAC play. Hunter came away with a 8-1 victory to secure a bye in the quarterfinals of the upcoming post season tournament.
Sweeping the doubles, Hunter paired up
Angelina Catania and
Nikhar Rathi in #1 doubles and a took home a 8-4 match. Freshman sensation Sevinch Rakhmatdinov paired up with
Mia Chan in #2 doubles and won 8-0, rounding out the the doubles matches
Lily McAndrews and Leila Nouri took home an 8-1 win in #3 doubles.
In the singles play
Angelina Catania moved up to the #1 singles and battled in a tough match that included a tie breaker and a superset, dropped 1-6, 7-5, and 7-10. That was the only blemish on the scorecard for the Hawks. With everyone moving up one flight Rakhmatdinov won 6-0, 6-1 in #2 singles, Marcia Postygacz won 6-1, 6-0 in the third flight. The Hawks swept the 4, 5 and 6 matches 6-0, with
Mia Chan taking home the win in #4 singles,
Nikhar Rathi at #5 singles, and
Lily McAndrews at #6 singles.
The Hawks will travel to the National Tennis Center on Tuesday October 18th, to take on CUNYAC conference rival Baruch, first serve at 3:00pm
