Queens, NY- The Hunter College Hawks traveled to the National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, to take on CUNYAC rival Baruch College. In a rematch of last years conference championship, Hunter took home a 7-2 victory, completing an undefeated season at 10-0 and 5-0 in CUNYAC play.
For the Match The Hawks took home victories in #2 and 3 doubles, and also winning all but #1 singles. Nabbing the first team point of the day was #3 doubles teammates
Anna Chapko, and
Mia Chan took home a 8-2 win. Just after that in #2 doubles
Angelina Catania and
Marcia Postrygacz won 8-1. Hunter was out scored 2-8 in #1 doubles with
Zaara Afida and
Nikhar Rathi dropping to the Baruch top pair.
With a 2-1 slight lead after doubles play Baruch took #1 singles first with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Hunter's top flight senior
Zaara Afida. With the match all squared Freshman Rakhmatdinov continued her winning ways taking home the 3rd flight 6-4, 6-0. The Freshman from Brooklyn has gone undefeated in her rookie year, 10-0 in singles and 9-0 in doubles. Hunter never relinquished the lead, right after Rakatdinov wrapped up her match
Anna Chapko took home the win in #4 singles 6-3, 6-3.
In the match of the day #2 singles went the distance, Sophomore
Angelina Catania won 6-4, 5-7, 10-3, to win both her matches on the day. in the 6th flight Junior
Nikhar Rathi won 6-4, 6-4.  Finalizing the 7-2 win
Mia Chan won 6-2, and 7-5.
With the win the Hawks have claimed the regular season championship and the top seed in the upcoming CUNYAC championship tournament. The Hawks have earned a bye in the quarterfinals and will host the semifinals at the National Tennis Center on Tuesday 11/25 with first serve set for 3pm.
