Fredericksburg, Va.- The Hunter College women's volleyball team fell to Johns Hopskoins in the first round of the NCAA Division III women's volleyball tournament, 3-0.
The Blue Jays defeated Hunter in 25-15, 25-18 and 25-8 to advance to the second round of the tournament. Hunter struggled in hitting percentage, being held to -.016. The Hawks were able to log 18 kills in the match, with Tionna Moss leading the team, amassing six. She was followed by captain,
Mariam Ouattara, who added four in addition to a pair of service aces and blocks.
Rookie of the Year, Bethany Tomaneng aided with 15 assists in the game as well as five digs. Nadia Lau added six digs of her own.
The loss puts and end to Hunter's impressive season which included both regular season and CUNYAC Tournament Championship titles. The Hawks closed out with 20-10 overall, including a perfect 7-0 in conference play in a season decorated with conference titles sweeps in Coach of the Year,
